Following the Queen's Speech on 08th May 2013, although not actually mentioned in the speech but appearing in the briefing notes attached to the speech, a new 2013 gambling bill in the UK emmerged whereby all gambling operators based overseas will be required to hold a licence from the UK Gambling Commission.

This change to the regulatory system ensures that companies are regulated from a consumption location rather than the county of origin.

The UK gamnling license will not only be required for operators but also to advertisers in the British Market. This new Bill which the miniters believe will increase UK consumers protection will also request both operators and advertisers to support action against illegal activity and corruption by imposing gambling firms to report any suspicious betting patterns involving British Customers.

Under this bill, gaming companies will also be required to actively contribute to research, education and treatment related to British gambling problems and to fully comply with licence terms protecting children and vulnerable adults.

This will apply to Great Britain as well as some provisions extending to Northern Ireland. An effective date is yet to be defined or announced.
